Turkish Baklava from Istanbul to New York.
Welcome to the first American branch of Güllüoglu baklava.
The story of Güllüoglu Baklava begins in Gaziantep, Turkey, located on the caravan routes connecting Mesopotamia, Egypt and Anatolia. It is one of the oldest cities in the world with its 5600 years of history. In 1871 Gullu Celebi introduces Gaziantep to a dessert he learned from a chef in Damascus. Baklava becomes an instant success and its legacy continues today, 134 years and 5 generations later. Güllüoglu's new 7000 square meter factory in Istanbul (Kagithane), the largest baklava producing and distributing site in the world, operates under the globally recognized licenses HACCP and ISO 9001 (Quality Assurance system). Now, the traditional Turkish flavor in baklava and other goods such as Güllüoglu's famous spinach and cheese pies, sesame breads (Simit), and other baked goods have found their way to the U.S.A. at its first American branch in Brooklyn, NY. At Güllüoglu Baklava and Café all Güllüoglu products are imported from the Istanbul factory frozen and vacuum sealed. A baker trained in the Güllüoglu tradition at the Istanbul factory then bakes the products fresh each day for our N.Y.C customers. Visit us at our café or order online.
